The full process

The Student Plug coordinates the connection

Unlike a normal classifieds site, we don't just show you a phone number and wish you luck. We stay involved from the moment you ask for something to the moment it changes hands.

01

Find it

You browse or search the network and find something you want — or you tell us what you're after on the Find It page.

02

Request it

You tap "Get this item" and fill in a quick form — your name, WhatsApp number, campus and a preferred meeting area. The item details attach automatically.

03

We check it

We confirm with the seller that the item is still available before anyone's contact details go anywhere.

04

We connect you

Once availability is confirmed, we coordinate communication between you and the seller — you're not handed a stranger's number with no context.

05

We arrange the exchange

We help agree on a suitable, safe meeting point — a public place, campus area, or other busy student environment.

06

Done

You meet, the exchange happens, and we mark the transaction complete. The listing is updated to sold.

Meeting up safely

Where and how to meet

We encourage every exchange to happen somewhere public and well-populated — on campus, at res common areas, or other busy student spots. Meeting at a private residential address isn't necessary in most cases, and we'd rather help you find a better option.

  • Meet in daylight

Where possible, arrange the handover during daylight hours in a busy spot.

  • Bring a friend

Totally fine to bring someone along if it makes you more comfortable.

  • Check before you go

Check the item over before the exchange gets marked complete.

Why it's built this way

Why we work this way

The Student Plug is built to be simple enough for one small team to run properly, and safe enough that students actually trust it.

1

Privacy first

Your WhatsApp number is never published on a listing. It's only shared once we've confirmed a real, active request on both sides.

2

A real review

Every listing is checked by a person before it goes live — not posted instantly with no oversight.

3

Fair, not free

Coordinating exchanges takes real effort. Over time, a small coordination fee may apply to completed transactions — never hidden, never a surprise.
